Zuzu and Tootie’s journey, the first day in their new house, started out on the rug in the bathroom, soft and fluffy and in a safe and confined space. To our dismay the bathroom was going to be their base of operations. We worried that with this being our only bathroom, and a small one at that, over the years, it would present a big challenge to navigate around the two girls while doing whatever one does in the loo. Not to worry though as that part of the journey abruptly ended; neither seems to have felt the need to return to the bathroom since day one. Day two the girls moved in underneath the table in the office. Day three they discovered the down comforter on the king select comfort bed-soft as feathers on my side, hard as rock on the other (!). For two days they camped on the bed, returning there after every mini adventure. I worried that we had become a family divided, them in the bedroom and us in the living room, so we (!) moved our base of operations to the bedroom. I immediately laid down the law that they weren’t to be fed in bed and within 4 seconds, ok maybe 2, you guessed it, I broke the rules and was hand-feeding then meatballs on biscuits….oh well! (Besides, anyone who knows us knows that ‘tis not me who does the law laying!!). Today arrived and we decided to put a big effort into showing them the merits of the sofa. As you can see from the previous posts our efforts were met with immediate success. I am thrilled to report that the sofa is now in the rotation and from that vantage point, hunkered down on this blowing snow and freezing afternoon we will all enjoy an afternoon movie…and I will be serving the girls a snack of meatballs and cheese on biscuits…you see I forgot the cheese for them last time!
The take-away from this post is that the girls are changing with lightning speed…..me, not so much!
